Many of us today use social media, whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, the list goes on and on! A.N.D. has realized this and has shifted its focus on even better ways to help people get connected and spread the word about nutrition. For instance, by simply logging onto your Facebook and liking their page, you can get updates on facts and any current events that are happening in the world of dietetics. This is a great way to gain access to information! They’ve also created apps to obtain information straight to your phone. A recent app that has emerged is called “Is My Food Safe?” which reduces the risk of food poisoning by letting you know the appropriate temperature the food you cook should be at and provides a food storage guide to let you know whether or not it’s time to toss. You can even test your knowledge! It’s simple, easy to use, and extremely helpful. Best of all, it’s free!
In addition, A.N.D. has utilized podcasts as a means of reaching out to those with very busy lives. You can listen to podcasts given every day by Sara Haas, Registered Dietitian and member of A.N.D., or you can download and listen on your desktop, laptop, or listening device at your convenience. Each podcast is about one to two minutes in length, and provides tips on living and eating healthy. You can also listen to public service announcements from EatRightRadio, which are thirty seconds to one minute in length, and cover topics from men’s health to preparing for a healthy pregnancy. They are given by various dietitians and are even available in Spanish. A.N.D. wants to make sure you don’t miss out on any opportunities for information!
